With the onset of summer, Jabalpurians are suffering due to heatstroke and sunstroke as the temperature is soaring in April. This year the temperature is 5 degrees above normal and is constant at 42 degrees since previous week.
On the other hand, summer is taking a toll not only humans on but also animals. Tributaries of river Narmada are drying up. Poeple are suffering from viral diseases, dehydration and extreme heat while animals are unable to get food and water properly.
According to Meteorology Department, from the beginning of April month, the temperature has been steady at 42 degrees and will remain the same in the oncoming days. Though clouds were spotted in the evening time but no fall in temperature has been recorded. Further, the heat wave is continuing in the
evening and night hours also. The department has mentioned that this adverse phase of summers will remain same till next 48 hours not even in Jabalpur but also in the entire Mahakoshal region and Central India.
Temperature during the morning time around 8.30 am was recorded 25.8 degrees. It reached to 39 degrees by 11.30 am and rose to 42 degrees by noontime. Previous year on this day, the temperature was 37.5 degrees maximum and 21.4 degrees minimum. This year Jabalpur has left Khargaun district behind in terms of heat wave and temperature hike. Jabalpur is known as the city of granite stones that means locals have to face extreme heat waves, as the temperature will rise day by day. This rising temperature has forced people to remain indoors.
