ALL-ROUNDERS Harsh Dubey and Parth Rekhade proved their prowess with the bat hitting a ton and a fifty respectively as the duo put Vidarbha in command over Uttar Pradesh in their Col CK Nayudu Trophy quarter-final match at Alembic 2 Cricket Ground in Vadodara on Wednesday.
Dubey’s maiden hundred (103) came from 165 balls and contained 14 fours and a couple of sixes while Rekhade scored a patient 68 from 150 balls hitting seven fours playing second fiddle to Dubey. Their association for the eighth wicket yielded 156 runs as the defending champs piled 523 in 165.1 overs.
In reply, UP lost both the openers and were reeling at 32 for 2 in 12 overs trailing by 491 runs at end of second day’s play. Seamers Nachiket Bhute and Shanmesh Deshmukh took one wicket each at the same score of 22.
Earlier, Vidarbha started with overnight pair of Yash Rathod (154; 338b, 21x4, 1x6) and Siddhesh Wath (71; 160b, 10x4). The left-right pair put on 150 runs for the fifth wicket. Within 30 runs, Vidarbha lost Wath, Rathod and Bhute to be seven for 335 but then the Dubey-Rekhade happened.
The left-arm spinners are now expected to do their best with ball in the hands.
