Leopard, langoor carcasses recovered in Pench Tiger Reserve

Carcasses of a female leopard and a female monkey (Langoor) were found at Seema Nullah between compartment numbers 643-644 in Gangatola Beat, Kurai in Pench Mowgli Sanctuary under Pench Tiger Reserve, Seoni, on Monday.
Rhe Deputy Director, Pench Tiger Reserve informed that a forest patrolling team found carcasses of a female leopard and female Langoor at around 3-metre distance from water body and immediately informed the senior officers.
Learning about the incident, senior officers along with dog squad and team of veterinarians led by Dr. Akhilesh Mishra and Dr. Akshay Bansod. A team was constituted for water testing but could not found any suspicious element in the water. In further investigation, team found nail marks of leopard on a tree and blood marks of wild animal.
In the autopsy report, it was confirmed that the leopard was succumbed to its severe internal injuries due to felling from tree and its tooth, nails and other organs were safe while veterinarians found tooth marks of leopard on neck of Langoor. Veterinarians have preserved the viscera of leopard and monkey for further forensic examination.
The carcasses were set ablaze as per standard operation procedure of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) in presence of SS Udde, Chief Conservator of Forest, Seoni, Rajnish Kumar Singh,
Deputy Director, Pench Tiger Reserve, Ashish Pandey, Superintendent, Vilas Dongre, Circle Officer, Vikrant Jathar, NTCA representative and others.
