District Collector Dr Ilaiyaraja T, on Friday, inspected the ongoing works of Green Zone and appreciated the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) for the endeavour. Terming the effort as commendable, he stressed the need of development of Green Zone in other areas also.

It may be noted that the civic body is developing Green Zone in 20,000 square feet area after removing encroachments from Deendayal square to Chandalbhata.

The Collector said that the JMC is developing hawker zones to provide space to encroachers and small traders to run their business. On the occasion senior officials informed that the JMC has decided to construct sheds along the road from Deendayal Chowk to Chandalbhata for laborers and people of weaker sections who stand under open sky in search of employment. The sheds would have drinking water facility and proper seating arrangement. Officials said the arrangement would also be made at other places of the city.

During inspection the Collector also directed concerned senior officials to maintain the Green Zone properly and in view of the summer, ensure best irrigation facility on both the times. He also appreciated the efforts of planting fruit bearing trees in the Green Zone. Those present included Municipal Commissioner Ashish Vashisht, Garden Officer Surendra Mishra, Supervisor Omprakash and others.
