LARSEN & Toubro Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) S N Subrahmanyan said, “We are rapidly advancing towards the ‘digital world’ and this is going to be our future. Be prepared to face the challenges of this ‘digital world’ with new
opportunities.”
He was speaking as the chief guest at the convocation ceremony of 4th, 5th and 6th batches of Indian Institute of Management Nagpur (IIMN) which was held at MIHAN premises of the institute on Sunday. Chairman of IIM Nagpur Board of Governors C P Gurnani and the Director of IIM Nagpur Dr Bhimaraya Metri graced the occasion.
Vaibhav Dange, Member, IIM Nagpur, Puneet Pushkarna, Member, IIM Nagpur and Amit Ambekar, Member, IIM Nagpur were present on the dais.
S N Subrahmanyan further said, “Many crisis like the coronavirus pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war have plagued the world one after another. This has caused a lot of upheaval in all areas of the economy and created a lot of issues. But even in scenario of worldly crisis many innovations like outsourcing, startups has brought good opportunities and new talents.
“Set your goals, work hard to achieve them without using any shortcuts. Success and failure are an integral part of life. Try correcting mistakes, get into the habit of reading,” said S N Subrahmanyan while advising the students.
At the beginning of the function, Gurnani welcomed the invited dignitaries, parents and students and announced the inauguration of the convocation ceremony. The convocation for earlier batches was delayed due to the pandemic. Therefore, a joint convocation ceremony of three batches was held this year, he said.
“Management students have a lot of employment opportunities in industry, corporate etc., and you will be able to fulfill your dream based on perseverance, willingness to work hard and strong desire,” Gurnani added.
The Director of IIM Nagpur Dr Bhimraya Metri reviewed the work of IIM.
Gurnani conferred the degrees upon the 424 students. Also, excelling students were awarded gold medals on the occasion.
Accordingly, the Best Scholastic Performance Award was presented to Ankita Joshi for 2018-20 and to Eina Gupta for 2019-21. Best all-rounder performance award for 2018-20 was awarded T Bharat and Sheikh Fareed Ahmed for 2019-21. The Best Scholastic Achievement Institute Award was presented to Dimpi Khurana while the Best Allrounder Performance Institute Award was presented to Samruddhi Koli. The Canara Bank Award was presented to Saurabh Bhargava as well as the Bank of Baroda Awards to Chinmay Mishra, Vaishnavi Arakot and Pragati Lohani on the eve of the convocation.
