REPRESENTING Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) in the Khelo India University Games (KIUG), Sunil Singh won a silver medal in the weightlifting championships but swimmers fell short of podium finishes in the championship under way at Jain University, Bengaluru on Tuesday.

In the men’s weightlifting event, Singh lifted 264 kgs to pocket a silver for the varsity.

RTMNU swimmers came close to winning a medal but missed the mark by whisker. In the 400m IM event, Rutuja Talegaokar, who has won many medals for the university, finished fourth. Another talented swimmer Himani Fadke ended sixth.

In 50m breaststroke, Rishika Bodele had to be satisfied with the fifth spot while Nagpur’s best bet in men’s; category Yash Gulhane finished at sixth.
