The team of Jabalpur unit of Economic Offence Wing (EOW) caught a Junior Engineer (JE) of Madhya Pradesh Eastern Region Power Distribution Company red-handed(MPERPDC) while accepting bribe of Rs 15,000 at Karakbel in Narsinghpur district. The EOW's action spread chaos at the Electricity Department the entire day.

Initially, when caught by the EOW team, the junior engineer refused to have any role in the bribe incident.

According to DSP, EOW, Manjeet Singh, the ground staff of Electricity Department seized cable installed illegally at the field of Jagdish Singh Rajput, a resident of Bargi, Narsinghpur district few days back. seizing the cable, the department registered a case against Rajput. Interfering into the matter, junior engineer, Virendra Singh Chouhan posted in Madhya Pradesh Eastern Regiona Power Distribution Company demanded Rs 15,000 as bribe to cancel the case. Jagdish Singh approached SP EOW, Devendra Pratap Singh Rajput and complained against Chouhan for demanding bribe. Acting on the complaint, the EOW team intiated its investigation and caught the JE red-handed while accepting bribe. Under the leadership of DSP Manjeet Singh, Investigation Officer,

Shashikala Maskule, Inspector, Swarnjeet Singh Dhami, Inspector Prerna Pandey, Inspector, Momendra Marskole and SI Kirti Shukla played significant role to catch the accused JE. SP. EOW, Devendra Pratap Singh Rajput informed that while the EOW team was checking documents at Karakbel office, another team has initiated its search at Chouhan's residence located at Garha area in Jabalpur.
