The only Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in the district, located in Singodi village, where students from all over the district are selected after qualifying the examination by preparing for the eligibility test. Being a CBSE Kendriya Vidyalaya, the name of the only JNV in the district is enough, but for the last few days, cases of ragging of junior students by senior students are gaining momentum.
A class IX student studying ay JNV, Singodi, has filed an application to the Principal and complained about the ragging being faced by him. His parents have also complained to the District Education Officer (DEO) about the ragging with junior students.
In his application, the student narrated the tale of the ill-treatment meted out to him in the school, which is astonishing. Parents complained to the DEO and students of class IX along with their parents have complained to the District Education Officer about the matter. It is informed that some students of class XI in the school pressurise them to wash clothes and clean dirty utensils. If a student refuses to do so, they beat him up.
Recently, senior students also allegedly thrashed a student with slippers on the same issue.
Parents created ruckus in the campus. It is being told that the students who were victims of ragging had complained to their parents about it. After this, all the parents reached the school campus and created a ruckus frmanding action against the guilty students. Ten students who were victims of ragging have made many serious allegations against the students of class XI by applying. Class IX students have accused three students of class XI of ragging. In this matter the Principal of Navodaya Vidyalaya said that they were investigating the matter.
Parents of the students who were victims of ragging have submitted a report about the whole matter to the police. Police could also take action by specifically investigating in the case of ragging, although no official is yet to say in this regard.
