LAD’s Saraswati Kanya Sangh bagged runners-up place in the State-Level Invitational Basketball Tournaments for girls (Under-16) that was organised by Canossa Club in Dhule. The city girls had a good outing in the tourney getting better of Aurangabad and Thane teams on their way to the summit clash. The winning run was ultimately halted by the hosts in the final (44-51). SKS beat Aurangabad in the quarter-final 26-14. In the semi-final, they defeated Thane 33-22. Sister Monica Cardio, Principal, Canossa Convent, Dhule awarded runners-up trophy to LAD’s SKS team while Sister Maggie Waz distributed certificates to all the team members.

 

CA GB Modi attended the function as chief guest. SKS coach Arvind Garud was felicitated at the hands of Sisters Cardio and Waz. SKS’ Asawari Raghorte was declared Player of the match and Devika Thakare was adjudged Best Player of the Tournament.
