DISTRICT Disaster Management Authority, Nagpur and JD Sports Foundation jointly organised JD Life Saver Basic Course for the youths of Nagpur District. Demonstration and certificate distribution programme was held at Ambazari Garden recently. “Youths play important role in disaster management. Youths must understand their duties and responsibilities towards the society and help the government authorities voluntarily during any disaster management situations.

 

When local youths and community support the authorities, any situation can be easily handled. Every field has various challenges and opportunities. Youths must select their own fields and follow their passions and give best to excel in it,” said Collector R Vimala, who was chief guest on the occasion, while addressing gathering. JD Life Saver Basic Course has helped the youths of Nagpur district during COVID pandemic to learn about road safety rules, water safety rules, basics of first aid, disaster management, role of good Samaritan etc through webinars by experts. Collector handed over certificates to the participants of the course. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) gave various demonstration on drowning prevention, CPR, contact and non-contact method of life-saving, standard device, how to save drowning person by using household equipment which helped the participants understand how various challenges are managed by SDRF teams in the state. The programme was hosted by JD Sports Foundation President and Former Joint Director, Department of Sports, Govt Of Maharashtra Dr Jaiprakash Duble; SDRF Assistant Commandant Pramod Lokhande, District Disaster Management Authority Officer Ankush Gawande, Nagpur District Amateur Aquatic Association Secretary Dr Sambhaji Bhonsale, JD Sports Foundation, Secretary Jayant Duble and SDRF Officers.
