Jabalpur Lokayukta police have unearthed disproportionate property amounting to Rs 1.41 crore from the Assistant Manager, Karonda Bahera Samiti in Birsa tehsil, Balaghat district, on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Santosh Bhagat, son of Devilal Bhagat, posted as Assistant Manager, Karonda Bahera Samiti in Birsa tiraha, Balaghat district.
DSP, Lokayukta, JP Verma informed that acting on a top-off, Lokayukta police started a secret search of undisclosed properties with Assistant Manager of a society. Continuing the investigations and scrutiny of documents, police have found that the Assistant Manager is owner of several properties and investments. Taking prompt action on the confirmation, a team of Lokayukta raided the residences of Assistant Manager Santosh Bhagat situated in Karonda Bahera village and Virsa village. In the raids, team seized LIC investment of Rs. 5.25 lakh, domestic inventory of Rs. 6.05 lakh, Bank Fixed Deposits of Rs. 15 lakhs, residence valued at Rs. 6 lakh, agriculture and other properties amounting to Rs. 28.77 lakhs, two houses in Virsa village in Balaghat valued at Rs. 50 lakhs, another house in Balaghat of Rs. 30 lakhs etc. Lokayukta police found disproportionate properties amounting to Rs. 1.41 crore while scrutiny of more documents is underway. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 13(1)B and 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act. In the raid, Lokayukta team led by DSP, JP Verma comprised of Inspector, Kamal Singh Uike and 12 other members.
