Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Ashok Rohani, on Friday, said the backward class is deprived of reservation only due to the Congress. He said Congress does not want that the local body elections to be held with reservation hence filed petitions to stop the process.
Addressing a press conference, Rohani said the Madhya Pradesh government will file a petition and again urge the court for amendment in the order so that Panchayat and local body elections be conducted with OBC reservation.
Rohani said the Panchayat election process was going on with 27 percent OBC reservation in Madhya Pradesh and all the preparations were made by the government for ward delimitation, reservation of wards, reservation of Mayor and President, preparation of electoral roll etc. Even nominations were filed by OBC and other candidates, but the Congress went to the High Court and the Supreme Court against it, which affected the elections and caused disruption.
He said the State Government has submitted a 600-page report to the Supreme Court also mentioning that the average number of OBC voters is more than 48 percent in Madhya Pradesh. Out of the total electorate, apart from SC/ST voters, the number of OBC voters in the remaining voters is 79 percent.
Rohani said it was the Kamal Nath government, which presented the misleading and untrue data in the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Reservation Amendment Bill on July 8, 2019 in the Vidhan Sabha that the OBCs constitute only 27 per cent of the total population in Madhya Pradesh. This is the real anti-OBC face of Congress, which has become evidence in the documents of the MP Legislative Assembly, he added. The MLA said the BJP is toiling hard to ensure early elections with OBC reservation in Madhya Pradesh.
