Sleuths of Lokayukta Police special establishment, Jabalpur caught a Patwari and Gram Kotwar while taking bribe of Rs. 15,000 for demarcation of land at Chourasia Mohalla, Bineka village in Mandla district, on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Pradeep Saiyyam, posted as Patwari Halka Number 35/70 in Mandla and Gram Kotwar Sanjay Vanshkar (45), son of late Madan Vanshkar of Mandla. Officers of the Lokayukta police nabbed the Patwari and Gram Kotwar, when they were taking bribe of Rs. 15,000 from complainant named Rohit Shravan Patel (33), son of Dhaneshwar Prasad, resident of Jawahar Ward in Mandla district.
According to Lokayukta, DSP, JP Verma appellant named Rohit Shravan Patel lodged a complaint that he had applied for demarcation of land but the same could not be taken place since many days. He contacted the Patwari of concerned area named Pradeep Saiyyam who demanded bribe of Rs. 15,000 for land demarcation work.
Taking a serious note on the complaint, Lokayukta police fielded the appellant for collecting evidences. Once the information was confirmed, Lokayukta police team led by DSP, JP Verma reached the spot at Chourasia Mohalla in Bineka village where Patwari, Pradeep Saiyyam sent his accomplice Gram Kotwar, Sanjay Vanshkar for receiving the bribe mone where Lokayukta personnel trapped the accused while taking bribe of Rs. 15,000 from the appellant. The co-accused disclosed that he was directed by Patwari Pradeep Saiyyam for receiving the money from Rohit Shravan Patel. Lokayukta police have registered a case against the corrupt officer under relevant Sections of Prevention of Corruption Act while investigations are on.
