CITY’S senior shuttlers excelled in the GK Khubba Memorial Veterans State Badminton Championship that concluded in Latur recently.

Dr Manisha Bhawatkar returned with twin titles — one each with Sunil Chandnani and Manasi Patwardhan while Manasi also finished as runner-up in singles event.

Dr Manisha and Chandnani defeated Ravi Srivastava and Bhagyalaxmi Kulkarni 21-10, 21-16 in 24 minutes to pocket mixed doubles tittle in 35 age group. In the women’s doubles of the same age group, Dr Manisha and Manasi recorded facile win over Anagha Deshmukh and Bhagyalaxmi 6-21, 15-21 in 23 minutes. Manasi could not bag a second crown as she went down fighting to Bhagyalaxmi Kulkarni in a thriller 21-19, 23-21.
