The Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, Dharamlal Kaushik said that the viral video of coal theft taking place in Deepka Police Station area of Korba district reminds the scenes of bollywood hit ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ which is based on such crimes. State Government should get it investigated by the CBI, so that the whole matter can be uncovered.
The way thousands of people are seen engaged in illegal mining of coal, it is clear that the network of inter-state gangs are behind it. Coal is being illegally transported from Chhattisgarh and sold in other states at expensive rates, said Kaushik. This is also causing huge loss of revenue to the state, he said. He said that looking at this incident; it seems that the entire scene of Gangs of Wasseypur movie can be seen in these mines. The State Government is not at all serious about the investigation of this crime as it is being committed under the protection of Government, alleged Kaushik.
Kaushik said that the investigation has been ordered by the top police officers in this matter for formality, but looking at the ground reality, it should be probed by a central agency like CBI.
Illegal coal is being transported from Chhattisgarh to many states including West Bengal, UP, MP, Maharashtra, AP, Odisha, he said. The State Government has got is exposed in this matter, Kaushik said.
