Chhattisgarh Health Minister T S Singhdeo, on a two-day tour, reached Raigarh on Monday under the second leg of his state tour to review departmental work and take feedback from the people.
Addressing a press conference at the Circuit House, Singhdeo issued an ultimatum and said that if Raigarh Medical College is not shifted to the new building within 15 days then the Dean and the Superintendent of the medical college will be changed. To a query Singhdeo said that factionalism is never in the interest of the party.
The Central Government is misleading the citizens of the country and so is BJP on the issue of diesel and petrol. There are three types of taxes on petroleum products. Central government’s excise duty, cess and VAT. The VAT is levied by the state government. The state governments get 42 percent of the excise duty and the center has reduced it which is a big loss for the states. Now state governments are being advised to reduce VAT.
The Health Minister said that five generations of his family have been associated with the Congress with heart and mind. “We are called members of the royal family and the Congress government has taken our palace by bringing laws. We were land owners, this Congress brought the law of ceiling. I was a trader of tendu leaves. In Kharsia by-election Arjun Singh announced that it was nationalised. Even after all this, we are in Congress, so today we cannot leave Congress for one small thing. It cannot happen,” said Singhdeo while indicating the battle for the chair.
On the Hasdeo issue, Singhdeo said that even he is not happy with the deforestation of Hasdeo forests, but no government will come forward to stop mining at a time when the nation is facing shortage of coal.
