CHAIRMAN and Managing Director of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) R K Sharma called on Surguja Collector Sanjeev Kumar Jha and Superintendent of Police (S P) Bhawna Gupta.
The meeting was marked by an elaborated discussion about the problem of frequent power cuts due to shortage of coal in power plants of Rajasthan.
The RRVUNL CMD Sharma requested for help in starting the mine at the earliest by removing all the obstacles bottlenecks for mining in Parsa block. He said that only a few days of coal was left in the thermal power plants of 4,340 MW in State of Rajasthan and a situation of blackout could occur, if the coal is not supplied timely. Out of the three mines of RRVUNL, Parsa East, Kete Basen (PEKB), Parsa and Kete Extension, coal production is currently going on in PEKB itself, while in other two mining is not possible due to several obstacles. Later addressing media persons, Sharma said that due to the opposition of some people, mining could not be started even after all the legal permissions for the second phase of Parsa East and Parsa coal block. Permission for mining of second phase of PEKB mine has been granted on March 25 and non availability of coal for 4340 MW units by first week of June may lead to black out in Rajasthan. Therefore, the collector has been requested get te obstacles on the way of the mining removed soon. He said that people should be made aware that Tribals will also be benefitted with this and a100- bed hospital would also be opened for providing good health facilities to all. Along with this, people will be benefitted through the development works. It is worth mentioning that Rajasthan Chief Secretary Usha Sharma has written a letter to her counterpart in Chhattisgarh Amitabh Jain, stating the problem of power cuts and to remove all the obstacles related to the allotted Parsa coal block in Surguja district. Collector assured to resolve it at the earliest.
