Madhya Pradesh Petrol Pump Owners’ Association is all set to keep their station closed for two hours from 7 pm to 9 pm on Wednesday in order to oppose commission related issue.
The Association members said that if their demand is not accepted, they would go on indefinite strike. Though people got a sigh of relief after the Centre reduced Excise duty that resulted in drop in fuel prices. Petrol became cheaper by Rs 9 and diesel by Rs 7 per litre but petrol pumps have set their mind to stage demonstration.
Petrol pump owners said that their commission amount has been declined that has put financial burden. Madhya Pradesh Petroleum Dealers Association has warned Indian Oil Corporation Limited regarding the issue. Association President Ajay Singh said that demand has been put before State-level coordinators of petrol pump dealers in Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum to enhance the amount.
According to reports, on November 4 -5, 2021, midnight, Government reduced Excise duty on petrol by Rs 10 and diesel by Rs 15 per litre.
On May 22, 2022, petrol price was reduced by Rs 9.50 per litre and diesel by Rs 7 per litre. Dealers said that they are happy with the price slash but after deducting Excise duty, they are facing loss of Rs 12 to 15 lakh. They said, when they purchase diesel and petrol they submit Excise duty amount in advance and now they have to refund the amount. Dealers said that they are receiving commission amount same as when petrol was sold for Rs 60 per litre and diesel for Rs 50 per litre while fuel price have become costlier by double fold. They demanded to increase the commission amount. The Association is demanding to fix commission sale amount as 5 % to be effective from year 2017.
Petrol Pump Dealers’ Association has issued a warning for two days. If their demand will not be approved they would keep station closed for two hours on May 25 and then will go on indefinite strike.
