The Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly paid courteous tribute to the public representatives and security personnel in Jhiram Ghati Naxal incident on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the incident on Wednesday.
“We all have to bear irreparable loss. Posts have never been a political issue for us, but Congress had been doing
politics on the issue. We all should know the truth of Jhiram Ghati as Congress Government had been misleading people wanting to know the truth of the case,” said Kaushik. Congress should tell what it has done for the people injured in the Jhiram Ghati incident and what benefits have been given to them, asked Kaushik.
Kaushik further said that the then UPA Government had directed an investigation into the Jhiram incident by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) which is one of the top agencies of the nation. Dr Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of the country and Shushilkumar Shinde was the Union Home Minister. The NIA had submitted the report to the Government after the investigation. Similarly, the State Government had formed a commission headed by the then High Court Judge Prashant Kumar Mishra. The Commission also submitted the report to the Congress Government which should have been tabled in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. Instead of
presenting the report in the Assembly and making it public, the Congress Government announced a new commission to hide the truth, said Kaushik while raising fingers towards the intention of Congress.
If the Congress Government formed a new commission then it should tell the people as to why, said Kaushik, adding, if the Congress Government had no trust on Mishra Commission report which was not
even opened.
On the occasion of Jhiram Ghati Martyrs Day, the BJP demands justice for the family members of the martyrs and tabling of Mishra commission report and action to be taken by Government.
The State Government must be accountable to its action and therefore it should disclose everything related to
Jhiram Ghati incident instead of blaming BJP and making it a political issue. The BJP
wants the truth to come out, but Congress wants to save some people and therefore it is not disclosing the Mishra Commission report, said Kaushik.
