The process of reservation for Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections concluded in the State capital. Ward-wise reservation was done in the auditorium of Ravindra Bhavan in the presence of senior officials of district administration, BMC and public representatives.
Reservation of total 85 wards in the limits of Bhopal Municipal Corporation was done. Of these, a total of 23 wards were reserved for OBCs. Out of these 23 wards, only OBC women will contest in 12 wards. There are 25 wards out of 85 in which anyone can contest elections. 23 wards have been reserved for women belonging to the unreserved category. 12 wards have been reserved for the SC category, out of which only women will be able to contest in half of the 06 wards. Total two wards are reserved for ST. This reservation process took about two hours.
Congress-BJP leaders attend reservation of civic bodies
BJP and Congress leaders were present during the reservation process. Many leaders including BJP district president Sumit Pachauri, former corporation president Surjit Singh Chauhan, Congress leader JP Dhanopia were present. During this several times there was a dispute between the leaders of BJP and Congress. Many Congress leaders were unhappy with this reservation process and they raised slogans in the auditorium expressing their protest.
