Two died and two were seriously injured during harsh-fire (joy fire) in a wedding ceremony at Chitrakoot under the jurisdiction of Rajapur police station area.
Four guests during a wedding function received bullet shots, after which two succumbed to the injuries. As per the information received, at Nonagar village, the groom party arrived at the house of Dhaiya Yadav for the marriage of his daughter. During the garland ceremony, two family members Ram Lakhan and Ramkaran Yadav started firing in air through their licenced guns. The villagers panicked with the noise of the gun shots. For around 15 minutes they kept on firing. In this incident, groom’s grandfather and brother-in-law died after sustaining bullet injuries. Two have been rushed in a critical state to hospital and their condition is said to be serious.
Police informed that Mahulai resident Abhiman Yadav was getting his son Shankar married to Budhiya, daughter of Dhaiya Yadav, a resident of Nonagar. At around 11 pm, during garland ceremony, two guests started firing in joy. Ramlakhan, Ramkaran Yadav during which Ramphal and Ramlal, sustained shots. Panic prevailed in the wedding party after this incident and almost all the members of the groom family fled from the spot.
Rajapaura police team reached the spot and sent injured to the hospital. Due to this mishap, wedding could not take place. Police have arrested one who fired in this wedding while the other managed to escape from the spot.
