Several relevant issues pertaining to the challenges in the power sector were discussed on second day of three-day ‘Manthan-2022’ on the ‘introspection’ of the engineers and employees of all the State-owned power companies of Madhya Pradesh at the State electricity headquarters, Shakti Bhawan, on Friday.
Principal Secretary (Energy), Sanjay Dubey, gave a power point presentation, and detailed about challenges before the power companies include technical and commercial losses, gap between annual revenue requirement and revenue collection, dependency on subsidy, mixed feeders, energy accounting, power pilferage, hooking, meter tempering, overloaded infrastructure etc.
He informed that the problem of power distribution will be solved through smart metre and direct bank transfer of subsidy. He also emphasized over providing new electricity connections within stipulated time of seven days. He also termed the charging of electronic vehicles as a challenging task for power companies.
Energy Secretary and MP Power Management Company, MD, Vivek Porwal specified the targets for power distribution companies and said for improving their basis structures. MPPKVVCL, MD, Anay Dwivedi, in his presentation, informed about the success story of company in GIS use in new connections and transformers repairing system and termed the cent percent metering as a future challenge.
