The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC), on Friday, razed a number of permanent structures to clear way for widening of the Smart Road from Ghamapur to Kanchghar. The anti-encroachment squad in presence of senior officials and heavy police bandobast bulldozed boundary walls, big portion of shops and residences hindering the widening of the busy road of the city.

The Jabalpur Smart City Limited (JSCL) is to widen the road. In the first phase, the civic body is removing all the obstacles from Ghamapur to Chungi Chowki. Thereafter, the widening work would be started under the supervision of technical officers of the Smart City as per the prescribed norms. Senior officials informed that the obstacles situated on both sides of the road were hampering road widening work for a long time. The delay in widening of road became a great nuisance for citizens. Now, all temporary and permanent structures which are obstructing the widening work have been removed. After the drive widening work would be started from Ghamapur to Chungi Chowki.

Senior officials informed that illegal portion from 2 to 10 feets of single and double story buildings and shops have been removed to widen the smart road.
