A Chief General Manager (CGM) was transferred while two General Managers (GMs) were suspended with probe ordered into fatal mishap that occurred in Steel Melting Shop-II of Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) on Thursday noon.

According to the information, with issuing order for probe into the fatal mishap of Convertor of SMS-II, BSP, the management also transferred Sushil Kumar, CGM, SMS-II, BSP to MRD, BSP and suspended GMs Komalpati Rajkuma (GM Mechanical) and Gourav Singhal (Departmental Safety Officer (DSO)) in the shop for ensuring fair and impartial probe in the matter.

The management authorities also issued directives for thorough analysis of prevailing circumstances at the time of mishaps and necessary measures for checking repetition of such mishaps based on findings of the report. It may be recalled that a contract worker was succumbed after he was hit by the chain of lancing crane, which was broken all of a sudden during work in progress at Convertor of SMS-II in BSP
