Keeping in mind the shortage of fertiliser supply from the Central Government, necessary preparations have been started by State Government to meet the demand of fertilisers in State for Kharif crop. Arrangements are being made for farmers to get advance lifting through co-operative societies, regular entry and fast storage and distribution of fertilisers is being done, according to an official release of  State Government.
Necessary co-ordination is also being established for rakes of fertilisers to be received through rail.
A total of 13.70 lakh tonne of fertiliser has been approved by the Government of India for Kharif 2022. Out of this, quantity of Urea is 6.50 lakh tonne, DAP is 3 lakh tonne, potash is 80,000 tonne, NPK is 1.10 lakh tonne and superphosphate is 2.30 lakh tonne.
In the months of April and May 2022, the total supply of Urea to State should have been 3.29 lakh tonne, but only 2.20 lakh tonne of Urea was received. The entire control of distribution of urea is exercised by the Ministry of Fertilisers, Government of India. The availability of urea is 62 per cent
against the target set for Kharif season. The availability of NPK in State is 30 per cent against the target, the availability of DAP is 39 per cent, the availability of potash is 35 per cent.
In the coming days, due to non-receipt of fertilisers on time from the Centre, there may be a crisis situation in State. Except Urea, all other fertilisers are mostly based on imported materials, hence, the responsibility of providing adequate fertilisers in State rests with the Central Government.
Meanwhile, BJP Kisan Morcha State President Sandeep Sharma said that the Agriculture Minister of Chhattisgarh is presenting false data on fertiliser supply by the Central Government which may create an adverse impact
on farmers. Such an irresponsible statement by the Minister may create panic among the farmers, said Sharma. The Agriculture Minister is encouraging black marketing through such baseless statements. Fake manure is being sold to farmers for extortion of money in the name of cow dung fertilisers. Farmers are being harassed and Centre is being defamed as part of Congress Government’s conspiracy, Sharma said. The farmers should not get panic over fertilisers supply, appealed Sharma. Last year also the Agriculture Minister furnished wrong data on fertilisers supply and he was exposed later. Sharma said that the Agriculture Minister had claimed that only 6 lakh tonnes of manure was given by the Center for Kharif last year, whereas later, in the data released by State Government, 11.8 lakh tonne of fertiliser supply was mentioned
