Department of School Education and Sports has introduced two changes in this year’s Class XI admission process. Students who get locked in the first round due to the allotment to first preference can participate in the third round of the process. As per second change, institutions can surrender in-house quota during any round.
As per earlier rule, students who used to get the college of their choice for Class XI admission, were not allowed to participate in next three rounds.
Sometimes students were not willing to take admission to the colleges they were allotted. But, due to the allotment of college of choice, they used to get locked for next three rounds.
Now, as per new rule, if the students get the college of choice, they can participate in third round. There were two more categories according to which the students cancelling the admission taken in some institutions and those whom institutions refused to admit. Students of such categories, too, can participate in third round. It means the prohibition will be for two rounds.
Similarly, institutions were prohibited to surrender their in-house quota till completion of three rounds.
As per the changed rule, now institutions can surrender their in-house quota during any round. According to sources, these changes might have been introduced because of less admissions in Class XI.
