BURGLARS seem to be striking at will in the Second Capital with two more sensational thefts being reported from Wathoda and Nandanvan Police Station areas in which booty worth Rs 12.75 lakh was stolen. Incidentally, the thieves struck it rich as they got hold of hard cash in both the places.
In the first incident which took place between June 11 and 13, a gang of burglars looted Rs 7.18 lakh from the office of Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited at Plot No 13, Orange Nagar. The gang entered the company’s office after bending the shutter. The intruders from made away with the cash and a cheque book with 96 leaves. When the company officers came to the office, they were shocked to find the cash and the cheque book stolen.
Following a complaint lodged by Narendra Bhalchandra Khanorkar (31), a resident of Plot No 23-B, Shakti Mata Nagar, Wathoda Police registered a case under Sections 454, 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code.
Similarly, thieves burgled Rs 5.57 lakh from the godown of a two-wheeler spares -- New Ginni World -- Shop No 24, ‘Matoshree,’ Plot No 38, Mire Layout, near Bapu Nagar on Umred Road in the small hours of Monday. The burglars gained entry into the godown after breaking open the locks and took away the cash from the drawer.
The thieves also stole a digital video recorder from the godown. After recording the statement of godown owner Devendra Laxmansingh Bais (50), a resident of Plot No 24, Mire Layout, Nandanvan Police started investigation.
