Hundreds of Congress workers in Nagpur came together in front of CGO Complex to protest the action of Enforcement Directorate (ED) of issuing notice to Party President Sonia Gandhi and Congress leader and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi. The protest was part of country-wide agitation.
In Maharashtra, Nana Patole, President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) had asked Congressmen to take to the street. Several Congressmen were detained and later released.
Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut, MLA Vikas Thakre, Minister of Rehabilitation Vijay Wadettiwar, ex-Minister Shivajirao Moghe, ex-Minister Vasant Purke, Nagpur District Congress Committee President Rajendra Mulak, MPCC Vice-President Dr Sunil Deshmukh, MLC Adv Abhijeet Wanjari, MLA Raju Parwe, MLA Sahasram Karote, Pratibha Dhanorkar, MP Suresh Dhanorkar, led the protest.
Dr Nitin Raut, while addressing the Congressmen during agitation, narrated the sacrifice of Gandhi family. He warned that if Central Government tried to pressure Congress through ED, the party would come out of it with more force.
Dr Raut said, “Government can turn MLAs, MPs to its side by misusing ED, CBI. But it can’t deter the self-respect of common Congress worker. We will not be bowed down by any action against us.”
Earlier, a morcha was taken out to ED office, CGO Complex where Congressmen raised the slogans in front of ED office near TV tower.
Police stopped the morcha with the help of barricades and detained Dr Nitin Raut, Vikas Thakre, Vijay Wadettiwar and other hundreds of Congressmen. Later all were released.
Industry and Commerce Cell President Atul Kotecha, Zilla Parishad President Rashmi Barve, Social Media President Vishal Muttemwar, MPCC General Secretary Umakant Agnihotri, Girish Pandav, Kishor Gajbhiye, Maharashtra Youth Congress President Kunal Raut, All India Secretary Ajit Singh, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress C General Secretary Adv Sandesh Singhalkar, AICC Secretary Kamlesh Samarth, ex-Mayor Naresh Gawande, Minority Cell President Irshad Ali, Prashant Dhawad, Women President Nash Ali and others were present prominently.
Praful Gudadhe, Narendra Jichkar, Sanjay Mahakalkar, Sheikh Husain, Krishnakumar Pandey, Sanjay Dube, Suresh Jagyasi, Neha Nikose, Ratnakar Jaipurkar, Anil Nagrare, Dipak Khobragade, Kunda Raut, Nafisa Ahmed, and several former corporators, workers of Sewadal Congress, Women Congress, Youth Congress were present in large number.
