Sensation prevailed at the General Post Office (GPO) in Civil Lines when a packet containing cracker pellets of air gun exploded on Tuesday evening. A large number of police officials rushed to the spot as a security measure.
A police official said that the explosion took place when the GPO workers were handling the parcel containing 10 packets of the pellets at 5.30 pm. As the employees were not aware about the explosive material, they shifted the parcel without care. As a result, the parcel fell on the ground and pellets in one of the packets exploded. PI Thakur came in contact with Bakate when he was serving in Deoli police station of Wardha district. The cracker pellets were brought by PI Thakur from Dhule and booked the parcel for Bakate, the official claimed.
