IN a reported housebreaking crime, some unidentified burglars broke into a house and decamped with gold and silver ornaments and valuables worth over Rs 4 lakh cumulatively from the house in Kumhari, Durg. A Kumhari police team inspected the house and recorded details of crime to crack the burglary at the earliest.
Police sources informed that in the intervening nights of Sunday and Monday, some unidentified burglars broke into house of Arti Verma, a resident of Chetua village of Kumhari, Durg and ran away with gold and silver ornaments and valuables from the house. The booty included a gold necklace, two gold chains, a gold coin, two gold rings, six pairs of gold earrings and tops, silver coins and an expensive laptop.
The police said that as per the complainant Arti Verma, at about 12 pm on Sunday, she along with the family members left home for attending a marriage ceremony at Bhilai-3 and the housebreaking came to light when she returned home on the following morning after attending the marriage ceremony. She found broken lock and scattered households inside house. She also told the police that on returning home she found main door lock was broken and unidentified burglars grabbed gold and silver jewelries and a laptop after breaking open almirah and lockers in the house. As per the sources unidentified burglars ran away with gold jewelries weighing over 73 grams from the house. The victim Arti Verma is serving as a school teacher at a primary school in Kherdha, Jamul, Durg.
While acting into complaint the police have registered the offence against unidentified accused under Section 457
and 380 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for indulging in the criminal acts of committing trespass and stealing from a closed place.
