“The youth will benefit from the Agnipath scheme launched by the Union Government for recruitment in all the three forces. This is a positive step for the Army and the nation and will create a combat force. The average age of the Army will be reduced from 32 years to 26 years. Youth should take advantage of this scheme,” said General Officer Commanding Lt Gen Dheeraj Seth on Wednesday.
Lt Gen Dheeraj Seth made the above statement while addressing the mediapersons in Bhopal at Panchjanya auditorium, Sudarshan Chakra Corps, Dronanchal Top.
He said that in future recruitment will be done only under the Agnipath scheme. When the youth will serve in the Army for four years, they will feel proud and when they complete their tenure, they will get a chance to move forward. He said that during the implementation and stabilisation of the Agnipath scheme, the operational capability and
preparedness of the Army, the ability to deal with borders and internal security challenges will be fully maintained. “We are confident that this change will bring renewed vigour and confidence to the Indian Army and help it grow stronger, more capable and look forward to the future. There will be better utilisation of the recruiting training period, which will increase the availability of soldiers for the field Army,” the GOC added.
Agniveers will become strength of the country: Those who join the Army under this scheme will be known as Agniveers. After four years, Agniveers will be empowered with appropriate skills and financial means. They will have a unique resume that will significantly enhance their value and employability in civil society. The new process will usher in a paradigm shift in our recruitment process, the general said. We will establish a fair, transparent and scientific method. The same criteria will be applicable to scrutinise the initial recruitment for four years and select those who are re-enrolled.
