After a long gap, the Butibori MIDC would witness a fresh impetus as Goyal Proteins Limits, a Jaipur-based group, is investing Rs 380 crore to set up soyabean extract plant. “The plant would be spread over 50 acres of land that the Goyal Group has taken in Additional MIDC area,” said Tarachand Goyal, one of the directors of Goyal Group, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’.
This is going to be sixth plant of the Goyal group that is headquartered in Rajasthan. The bhoomipujan of the plant is going to take place on June 15 at the hands of Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghachalak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Rajesh Loya, CA, Mahanagar Sanghachalak, Nagpur, RSS, is going to preside. The plant would be ready and start production within a period of two to two and half months period.
Talking further, Goyal said that Nagpur was natural choice for the group as Central India is well-known for soyabean. At the Butibori plant, the soyabean extract would be utilised to produce nuggets that are in great demand in the market. The company specialises in high protein products form soyabean that is patronised by vegetarians.
Entire Vidarbha is well known for cultivation of soyabean and the crop is also taken on large scale in neighouring Madhya Pradesh area. So for Goyal group it was natural to zoom in on Nagpur for its new plant to process soyabean that is well known for its rich nutrients.
Along side the nuggets, the Butibori plant would also produce cattle feed that is primarily exported to ASEAN countries.
After extraction of oil or the left over material after using the soyabean is properly rolled and the cakes have high demand in local as well as other markets. High in nitrogen the feed is considered good for bovines and at one of time Central Railway's Nagpur Division second highest earnings post coal came from dispatch of DoC to Vishakapatnam port from where it would be taken to Bangladesh and other countries.
As to capacity, Goyal said they are designing it for 2300 tonnes but once the operations start everything will depend on market conditions and other aspects. About jobs prospects, he said nearly 500 plus people would be needed for operating the soyabean extract plant at Additional Butibori Industrial Estate.
