THE condition of Rahul Sahu who was admitted to Apollo hospital is stable and he is being provided all care. Rahul was admitted to the hospital at about 2.15 AM after he was rescued from the pit at 11.56 PM.
After examination, doctors found his blood pressure and sugar under control and heart beat in order.
Apollo Hospital also formed a special team of doctors under the aegis of Dr Indra Mishra and Rakesh Pandey for treatment of the child. Besides Parliamentary Secretary Rashmi Singh, District Collector Dr Saransh Mitter and Superintendent of Police (SP) Parul Mathur, the entire team of Police, administration and health officials were also camping in the hospital taking minute to minute report of the kid. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in his message congratulated Indian Army, BSF, NDRF, SDRF, SECL and authorities for their prolonged efforts and successfully rescuing Rahul Sahu. Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr Pramod Mahajan said that since the kid was trapped in bore-well for a long time there are small spots and injury marks on his body. He said that the child was behaving normally and responding to the doctors. After a prolonged effort of more than 104- hours, the ten year old Rahul Sahu was finally rescued from the bore-well on late Tuesday night. About 500-jawans of Indian Army, Border Security Force (BSF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) were pressed in to carry out one of the biggest rescue operation in the country. About four IAS (Indian Administrative Service), two IPS (Indian Police Service) officers, one ASP (Additional Superintendent of Police), four DSP, two Deputy Collectors, five Tehsildars and eight Inspector rank officers were camping at the spot throughout the rescue operation. It is to be mentioned that on 10 June, Friday afternoon at about 02.15 PM Rahul Sahu (10), son of Lala Sahu and Geeta Sahu, residents of village Piharid under Janjgir-Champa district, fell in the bore-well and was trapped at 60-feet depth. After about two hours his parents and villagers came to know about the incident and informed Police Helpline No.112. Immediately the news spread like wild fire and all the senior Police and administrative officials reached the spot with rescue teams. The rescue operation started after about one hour at 05.00 PM with pumping Oxygen inside the pit and sending foods to the trapped kid. Early next morning the teams of NDRF and SDRF reached the spot and took control of the rescue operation. By afternoon Robotics Engineer of Gujarat Mahesh Ahir reached the spot to rescue the child through robot. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was monitoring the rescue operation and held online discussions with the officials and parents of the child. He also gave the responsibility of rescue operation to District Collector Jitendra Shukla and Superintendent of police Vijay Agrawal. NDRF Chief Vardhaman Mishra, Gautam Suri and G P Suri also played a vital role. MLA Sailesh Pandey, IG Ratanlal Dangi and Commissioner Dr Sanjay Alung also paid visit to the hospital. On Tuesday afternoon Indian Army took command of the rescue operation of the child digging tunnel and breaking the rocks and late in the night at about 11.56 PM Rahul was rescued from the bore-well. He was immediately shifted in the ambulance and rushed to Apollo Hospitals here through green corridor from Janjgir-Champa to Bilaspur. Chief Minister Bhupesh baghel on his return from Delhi reached Bilaspur and went to Apollo hospital to enquire about the well being of Rahul who is undergoing treatment at the hospital. The chief minister instructed the doctors to give the best treatment to the boy and also met the family members who expressed their gratefulness to the chief minister. The chief minister while consoling the mother of Rahul, Geeta Sahu assured that the state government will bear the expenses of the education of Rahul.
