A mother woke up to her worst nightmare in Nishatpura area of Bhopal as she found her seven-year-old boy’s body was found lying in the bushes while a dog was biting-off the flesh from his amputated left-leg, the bone of which was lying nearby.
Hritik Dhamor (7) was fond of cycling and would usually return around 10 pm to 11 pm after enjoying his evening bicycle ride. It was his mother, Preeti Dhamor’s habit to serve him dinner after he returned and then they both would sleep. But Preeti fell asleep a few hours early on Wednesday night and woke up around 4 am, only to find her kid missing. SHO of Nishatpura Mahendra Singh Chouhan told ‘The Hitavada’ Preeti lived with her two kids in Dhruvanchal Colony of Sanjeev Nagar Army area and her husband works in Khandwa district.
On being unable to find her kid, she contacted her brother who lived nearby and they both began searching for the boy at cockcrow. They had reached only a couple hundred metres away from home, when Preeti spotted Hritik’s bicycle lying roadside. Both approached towards the bicycle and found that at some distance was lying Hritik’s body, with left leg cut-off and chewed till bone. Another stray dog was pecking on him, when they reached the spot. Forest deptt inspect spot; will provide financial aid of Rs 4 lakh to bereaving family: A forest crack team inspected the incident site and made sure that no wild animal would come in that area in future. The district administration and police officials, including the Forest Department, were engaged in the search of the surrounding area. Prima facie wild animal attack is confirmed. The primary post-mortem report of the child confirmed that the attack was done by a wild animal. The crack team of the Forest Department is
conducting a detailed survey of the incident site area and the inspection is going on to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future. Traces of chewing bones have been found on the child’s body, which may be of a leopard or hyena. Nearby cameras are also being monitored for investigation.
