CM honours ‘Save Rahul’ rescue team

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel honoured the rescue team members, who evacuated 10-year-old Rahul Sahu safely from borewell, at a function held at the Chief Minister’s House in Raipur on Thursday.
It may be mentioned that Rahul Sahu, who fell into a borewell in Janjgir-Champa district of Chhattisgarh, was rescued after a 104-hour-long operation on June 14 night.
Around 500 personnel including officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Army, local police and the district administration, were involved in the massive rescue operation.
Personnel and officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the Army, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police and the district administration were honoured in the programme.
According to information, the technical team involved in the rescue operation like lights, tents, generators, welding machines, gas cutters, machinery labour providers, borewell camera setup operators, drilling, poclain operators, rescue teams of SECL and food providers were also honoured in the programme.
Addressing the programme, Chief Minister Baghel said that a documentary film should be made on the rescue operation carried out to evacuate the child trapped in the borewell in Janjgir-Champa district.
The people of the state and the country can understand this experience of the rescue team. This film will also become a lesson to prevent such incidents in future, he added. Chief Minister Baghelsaid that the State Government would bear education and medical expenses of Rahul Sahu.
Baghel expressed his gratitude to the entire rescue team and the people of State and country, who prayed for the rescue of Rahul.
He said that the recue operation was arduous, there were troubles and struggles, but the courage of the team remained intact. Baghel announced that all the members of rescue team will be honoured on the occasion of Rajyotsava this year. Janjgir-Champa Collector Jitendra Shukla narrated about the entire rescue operation. Shukla said that the Chief Minister had instructed him that Rahul had to be rescued safely at any cost and he was constantly enquiring about the progress of the work. Bilaspur Inspector General of Police Ratanlal Dangi and Director of Department of Public Relation Soumil Ranjan Choubey also spoke. Choubey informed that Assistant Public Relation Officer Kamal Jyoti Jahire and his team had worked 72 hours continuously. Over 100 tweets were made through the twitter handle of CMO Chhattisgarh. Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey, MLA Ramkumar Yadav, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo, Prinicipal Secretary Manoj Kumar Pingua, Secretary to Chief Minister Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, Brigadier Vignesh Mohanti, Commissioner of Department of Public Relations Dipanshu Kaabra and other officials were present.
