Congress party on Thursday staged a dharna at Ambedkar Chowk in Raipur to register a protest against the Delhi
police action at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters.
Addressing the dharna, State Congress Chief Mohan Markam said that Delhi police had resorted lathi-charge at the AICC headquarters on Wednes, in which several senior Congress leaders and journalists were injured. Markam alleged that the BJP Government at the Centre is misusing the central agencies like CBI, ED, Income Tax and NIA against the opposition parties. Markam also raised a question over the questioning of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by ED. Urban Administration and Development Department Minister Dr Shiv Kumar Dahariya, MLA Amitesh Shukla, Mayor Aijaz Dhebar, State Mineral Development Corporation Chairman Girish Dewangan, State Congress Vice President Pratima Chandrakar, MLAs Shailesh Pandey, Kunwar Singh Nishad, Anita Yogendra Sharma, Chhanni Sahu, Congress leader Rajendra Tiwari, Subodh Haritwal, Neeraj Pandey and other Congress leaders addressed the dharna and levelled accusation against the BJP government at the Centre. State Congress In-charge General Secretary Amarjeet Chawla conducted the proceedings. MLA Satyanarayan Sharma, State Vice President Gurumukh Singh Hora, State Congress General Secretary (Administration) Ravi Ghosh, MLAs Kuldeep Juneja, Bhuneshwar Baghel, Daleshwar Sahu, Rashmi Ashish Singh, Mayor Aijaz Dhebar, Mayor Hema Deshmukh, Mayor Ramsharan Yadav, Maor Neeraj Pal, State Congress General Secretary Chandrashekhar Shukla, State Text Book Corporation Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi, State Congress Spokespersons Ghanshyam Raju Tiwari, Dhananjay Singh Thakur, Vikas Tiwari, Abhay Narayan Rai, District Congress Committee (Urban) Raipur President Girish Dubey, DCC (Rural) President Udhoram Verma, other leaders and workers were present. Later, a protest march was taken out by the Congress party from Ambedkar Chowk to Raj Bhavan. National Students Union of India workers also created uproar near Raj Bhavan. A delegation of the Congress party led by State Congress Chief Mohan Markam submitted a memorandum addressed to President of India at Raj Bhavan. In the memorandum, the Congress party condemned the Delhi police action at the AICC headquarters
