DESPITE increase in pass percentage in the SSC exam results announced on Friday, Nagpur and Amravati Divisions of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, went down from their positions of second and third respectively last year to fourth and seventh this year with pass percentage of 97 and 96.81 respectively.
Total pass percentage for Maharashtra State is 96.94 pc. Girls again outshone boys by scoring 97.52 pass percentage as against 95.32 pc scored by boys. Konkan topped all divisions with 99.27 pc result.
In Nagpur division, of the 1,55,360 registered students, 1,53,739 appeared in the examination. Out of those who appeared, 1,49,133 students passed taking the pass percentage to 97. Of total students who appeared, 81,412 were boys and 75,969 were girls. Of them, 77,746 boys and 74,373 girls passed the examination, making the pass percentage of boys to 95.49 percent and girls to 97.89 percent.
In Nagpur division, Prajakta Bhude of Pandit Bachhraj Vyas Vidyalaya, Rajabaksha scored 98.8 percent marks and is the probable topper of Vidarbha. Vedika Sute and Ashwini Mahule of Somalwar Ramdaspeth scored 98.6 pc and 98.2 pc respectively. Ketki Wankhede of Mundle English School, who scored 99.8 per cent and Antara Kawthekar of Somalwar, Ramdaspeth, who scored 98.8 pc marks reached this top slots with help of marks for extra curricular activities.
Ashwini Pathe of Blind School run by The Blind Relief Association stood first among visually impaired divyangs. Ashwini scored 79.8 pc marks.
