Aiming to ensure Pan India representation of candidates in the army and develop a skilled youth for the nation, ‘Agnipath’ Scheme has been launched, said General Officer Commanding (Madhya Bharat Area) Lt General M K Das.
Detailing about the benefits of Agnipath Scheme at Headquarter COSA Nava Raipur on Friday, Lt General Das elaborated that the country needs soldiers from every part but due to the existing recruitment process the representation of candidates from few states are very high. To ensure the Pan India representation, the scheme has been launched.
“This scheme has three major benefits like the army will get a better soldier with Pan India representation, the candidate will get an option whether he wants a career in the force or opt the other option,” said the Lt General.
Based on the performance, candidates will be given an opportunity to continue in the force, the officer added.
Lt General Das further elaborated that the candidates selected under this scheme will be provided an opportunity for further studies. Sharing details about the salary package, the officer said that the candidates under this scheme will be paid Rs 4.76 lakh in the first year to Rs 6.79 lakh by fourth year. Under Seva Nidhi Package, the candidate will be offered around Rs 12 lakh on completion of the 4 years tenure. This will be a great career option for the youth. In case of death, the next of kin will be provided over Rs 1 crore while Rs 44 lakh in case of disability. Calling the youths to shun the path of violence, the officer asked them to think about the scheme with a cool mind. Several ministries have come forward to absorb these skilled candidates, informed the Lt General, elaborating that with time, better things will be incorporated in this scheme. CAFP, police department and other options will be available to the Agniveer as a second career option after completing the tenure of four years, the officer said, explaining that a skilled Angiveer will be far better than anyone.
