Now, protest has begun in Chhattisgarh over the Central Government’s recently announced ‘Agnipath’ scheme for recruitment in armed forces. Indian Youth Congress workers burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rajiv Chowk in State Capital on Saturday. The protestors raised slogans against the Central Government. The Indian Youth Congress workers had planned to gherao BJP MP Sunil Soni’s residence in Raipur city, but they postponed it on the advice of senior Congress leaders at the last moment. The Indian Youth Congress workers led by Youth Congress leader Vinod Kashyap opposed the ‘Agnipath’ scheme. Later, the police removed the protestors.
 
Vinod Kashyap said that the Central government has brought this ‘Agnipath’ scheme to deceive the youth of the county and so they will oppose it. In his statement, State Congress Media Chief Sushil Anand Shukla said that the BJP government at the Centre, which calls itself a nationalist, is playing a cruel joke with national security in the name of Agniveer. The youth, who dream of a golden future with national service in the country’s armed forces, are feeling cheated. Central Government is spoiling the future of the youth of the country as well as the Indian armed forces of the country, he added. Aam Aadmi Party State President Komal Hupendi said that the AAP has also opposed the ‘Agnipath’ scheme of the Central Government. In his statement, Hupendi said that the scheme is a deception with the crores of youth in the country who are dreaming of joining the Indian Army or those who are preparing for it. It may be mentioned that widespread protests erupted over the ‘Agnipath’ scheme in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Telangana and other states. Youth in large numbers are participating in the protest. Retired army officials have also come out opposing the scheme.
