In a fresh crackdown against the corrupt practices in the government department, the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested three officials of Water Resources Department (WRD) in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh, ACB officials said on Saturday. Acting on a complaint, Jagdalpur unit of ACB caught three officials of WRD red-handed while they were allegedly accepting the bribe, said Additional Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amrita Sori. The arrested officials were identified as Executive Engineer R B Singh, SDO R B Chourasiya and Deputy Engineer D K Arya, said ASP Sori, elaborating that they were booked under relevant Section of Prevention of Corruption Act. According to the officer, ACB had received a complaint that the Executive Engineer, SDO and Deputy Engineer were demanding a bribe of Rs 24 lakh for releasing a bill worth Rs 1.11 crore against construction works. The accused trio were allegedly demanding Rs 7.20 lakh as first instalment of the bribe.

The accused trio and the complainant entered into a mutual consent about Rs 1.30 lakh as first instalment of the bribe.
