Raipur,
BJP National Vice-President and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh on Wednesday said that the Congress party is struggling for its existence in the country. In many states, Congress is not even in a position to remain in Opposition and in large states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh Congress has ended up with
just four or five numbers after 2014, said Dr Singh while addressing media at the party office in Raipur.
Congress has won only 56 seats out of 608 seats in the assembly elections held in different states after 2018, said Dr Singh.
To a query, Dr Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reduced the prices of petrol, diesel and gas which will help control inflation which has now become a global issue. The people of Chhattisgarh will be benefitted more if Bhupesh Baghel government reduces VAT on fuel. On Congress ‘sankalp Shivir’, Dr Singh said that such camps is happening so much in Congress these days that the leaders of the party are worried now. Congress had brought ‘PK’, but he could not adjust himself in the party which, according to ‘PK’, cannot be trained.
Highlighting the achievements of Prime Minister Modi in the last 8 years, Dr Singh said that the priority of the Prime Minister has been the welfare of the poor who has been at the centre of every central scheme. Modi himself was the Chief Minister for 15 years and he understands the problem of the Chief Ministers of the states. As soon as he became the Prime Minister, Modi increased the state share in central tax from 32 percent to 42 percent. Chhattisgarh this year has received Rs 8000 crore more than previous year under its share, said Dr Singh. Dr Singh said that the Centre is generously helping the states including Chhattisgarh. When Union Minister Nitin Gadkari came to the state, he gave approval for roads worth Rs 9000 crore in one go and assured of giving Rs 1 lakh crore worth of road projects to the state if state government cooperate in this direction, said Dr Singh, adding this is the generosity of the central government towards Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is the only state in the whole country, which snatched the houses of the poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Dr Singh said that Chhattisgarh is not getting the benefit of Ayushman Bharat scheme as the state government has failed to implement it. If there is any government that is friendly to the farmers, it is the Modi government. The Modi government is giving a subsidy of three lakh crores to farmers to get urea fertilizers. As many as 6.50 lakh new schools came up, 15 new AIIMS were started, new medical colleges were opened under Modi government. Antyodaya is BJP’s mantra. Earlier, BJP state president Vishnudev Sai said that on the completion of eight years of the Modi government, BJP is celebrating the festival of ‘Seva, Susasan and Garib Kalyan’ (Service, Good Governance and Welfare of Poor) fortnight from May 30 to June 14. Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik, Raipur MP Sunil Soni, Bilaspur MP Arun Sao, BJP State spokesperson Sanjay Shrivastava, Ashok Pandey, general secretary Bhupendra Savanni, Sachchidanand Upasane, Shrichand Sundrani, Mukesh Sharma, Gaurishankar Shrivas, state media in-charge Nalineesh Thokne and Anurag Agrawal were present during the press conference.
