SOUTHWEST Monsoon, the much awaited lifeline of industries and agri-based Chhattisgarh has finally covered the State on June 20.
After the onset of monsoon across the state light to heavy showers were recorded across Chhattisgarh during the day. The maximum temperature dropped significantly in the raipur, Bastar, Durg and Bilspur Division while there was no major change in other divisions. Similarly, there was no major change in minimum temperature in all divisions.
The highest maximum temperature of 31.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Ambikapur while lowest minimum of 28.6 degrees was recorded at Raipur and Durg respectively on Monday. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature hovered around 19.6 to 25.6 degrees across State.
With the increase in intensity of Monsoon rains across the state, Churra recorded 100mm rainfall, Kota 90mm, Lormi 80mm, Patharia 70mm, Mahasamund 60mm, Bodla 50mm, Pakhatpur and Pandaria 40mm, Baloda Bazar, Bilaspur, Mungeli and Dondilohara 40mm, Thankhamaria, Kawardha, Akaltara, Bhatapara, Baramkela, Bemetara, Pithora, Pusour, Baikunthpur, Masturi, Malkhorada and Mana Airport 30mm, Simga, raigarh, Rajnandgaon, Bilha, Champa, Baloda, Jaijaipur, Chuikhadan, Rajim, Abhanpur, Kasdol, Dongargarh, Nagri and Nawagarh 20mm, Janjgir, Tilda, Bagicha, Saza, Bilaigarh, Dhandha, Gariaband, Shivrinarayan, Raipur, Pendra, Pallari, Patan, Arang, Sahaspurlohara, Sarangarh, Pandra Road, Ramanujnagar, Dantewada, Gandai and Surajpur recorded 10mm while below 10mm rainfall was received at many places across the state on Monday.
The Met Center informed that a East West trough extends from West Uttar Pradesh to Bangladesh on Monday. Similarly, another trough lies from South Chhattisgarh to South coastal Andhra Pradesh. Under the influence of these two systems, light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorm is expected at many places in the state on June 21. There is a warning of gusty winds and thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and heavy rains likely at one or two places on Tuesday.
Meanwhile in the general forecast, thunderstorm along with light to medium rainfall is expected at many places over the state on June 21. Cloudy conditions will prevail over Raipur with chances of thunderstorm and rainfall on Tuesday.
