IN a horrifying road accident, atleast four people, including a woman, died while another woman sustained critical injuries when their car being driven at breakneck speed rammed into a stationary trailer, near village Bharari, located about 35-kilometers away from here at wee hours
on Monday.
The injured woman has been admitted to the hospital where her condition is serious.
The trailer driver, after the accident, escaped from the spot and was absconding. Ratanpur Police took possession of the bodies and sent them for postmortem. Police have registered an offence and started investigations. According to information received from Ratanpur Station House Officer (SHO) Shant Kumar Sahu, five people including Himanshu Singh, Suraj Rathore, Akshyay Dubey, Indu Thakur and Tanya all residents of Budhwari Bazaar area in Korba set off for Bilaspur on a car late last night.
At about 03.00 AM when they reached near village Bharari, the driver of recklessly driven car while overtaking a vehicle from wrong side lost control from the steering and the vehicle rammed into the stationary
trailer in full speed. The seriousness of the accident could be gauged by the fact that three passengers onboard Himanshu Singh, Suraj Rathore and Akshyay Dubey were killed on the spot while Indu Thakur and Tanya were seriously injured. Instantly after the accident large number of villagers rushed to the spot to rescue the injured. Ratanpur Police also reached the spot after information and sent the injured to Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) where Indu Thakur succumbed during treatment. The condition of Tanya is reported critical according to the doctors. The trailer driver after the accident has fled from the scene and is still at large. Police took possession of the bodies and sent them for postmortem. Police seized both the trailer and ruckus of the car and registered an offence. Further investigations are on. So far no arrest has been made.
