Police notched a major success in the ambush with the Maoists as three dreaded Naxalities, including a woman, were killed by police in forest of Kandla of Khandapani village panchayat, 15 kilometres away from Lanji in Balaghat district. In this ambush between Police and Naxalities, one division commander Nagesh carrying cash reward of Rs 15 lakh, area commander Manoj carrying cash reward of Rs 8 lakh and a woman area commander Rame carrying cash reward of Rs 8 lakh on their head, were killed. Police recovered one AK 47, rifle on 303 rifle and a 12-bore action gun from the encounter site.
Police informed that these three Naxalaites were from Platoon 56 and Darekasa Dalam. Senior police officers including Superintendent of Police Sameer Saurabh and Inspector General Sanjay Singh are still in the forest.
These three Naxalities were between age group of 35 and 40 years. The ambush took place in the area which comes under jurisdiction of Bahela Police Station.
Lanji area has Naxalite movement hence police keep strict vigil in each area of this block. Hawk Force members had ambush with the Naxalities after they received d tip off about the movement of commander-level Naxals in the area. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has promised ‘out of turn’ promotion and gallantry awards for the policemen involved in the operation against ultras. Chouhan said the State Government will eliminate Naxals from MP.
“Out-of-turn promotion and gallantry awards will be given to the policemen who killed the Naxalites without caring for their lives. I appreciate their courage. Madhya Pradesh is proud of these heroes,” the Chief Minister said. “Three Naxals carrying rewards on their heads were killed in the encounter with the police’s Hawk Force,” Mishra said. The Hawk Force is vigilant in all the Naxal-affected areas in MP, the Home Minister Mishra said. The ambush took place in the area which shares borders with Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. In this area, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh cops conduct joint operations. This area has regular movement of members of all the main group of Naxalites, including Malajkhand Dalam, Tanda Dalam, Darekasa, Platoon Dalam and others.
Villages namely Korka, Bondari, Pathri, Madi, Jagla, Kasatola of Pathro police chowky, villages Haranullah, Duglai, Aamanulla, Janiyatola, Bithli, under Bithki chowky, villages Songuda, Koddapar, Kurrejhodi, Rashimeta, Dulhapur, Murim of Sinudda chowky and others villages of Lanji area have Naxalite movement.
