morale of police and Hawk Force jawans is high after the success in eliminating three dreaded Naxalities. IG, Balaghat, Sanjay Kumar after returning from the spot of ambush, briefed the media about the ambush and revealed more details about the same. This is biggest anti-Naxal operation accomplished successfully in Madhya Pradesh in which one Zonal Commander and one Area Commander level Naxals were gunned down.
IG Sanjay Kumar informed that whole night planning was done when inputs were received about movement of commander level Naxalities in Kandla forest area of Lanji area.
On Monday morning, around 35 jawans entered the forest and moved in dense jungle area for more than 2.5 hours. At around 9 am they found the spot where Naxals were hiding.
They raised the area and for next 40 minutes firing was done from both sides. Police and Naxals fired more than 150 rounds of bullets. Finally, three Naxalities were killed.
The killed Naxalities were active members of their Dalam since many years. They had total cash reward of Rs 57 lakh in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. These three were more active in Balaghat, Rajnandgaon and Gadchiroli. He informed that all the three found themselves trapped by jawans from all sides but still they fired more than 100 rounds. Other Naxalities who were with the three, managed to flee taking advantage of the firing. Police team has received huge quantity of basic utility things from racksack of Naxalities, Naxal literature, solar panel and AK-47, SLR rifle, tiffin bomb.
The IG informed that during rainy season movement of Naxals slows down. They stay in dense forest area and give training to new members. When input about movement of Naxalites in Kandla forest area was received, then one of the biggest operation was accomplished.
At night, bodies of three Naxalities were brought to district hospital from Lanji. The bodies were kept in mortuary and heavy police force was deployed around the district hospital.
The IG informed that after all necessary formalities, family members of deceased Naxalities will be informed.
