Yoga useful for physical, mental health: Gadkari

To ensure a healthy and stress-free life, regular practice of yoga is essential and the early, one starts the better results one gets, stated Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari. Agreed today everyone is in hurry, but they should take out some time and devote the same to practice yoga asans. He was speaking at 8th International Yoga Day held at Kasturchand Park.
International Yoga Day was celebrated in the presence of members of the Union Cabinet at 75 historical sites across the country as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Kasturchand Park was one among them. This included the event in city and same was hosted by NHAI with the help of the district administration. Dr Vikas Mahatme, MLC Pravin Datke, Acting Divisional Commissioner Dr Madhavi Khode-Chavre, Collector R Vimala, Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B, Member of National Highways Authority Alok, Regional Officer, Rajiv Agarwal, General Manager and Project Director N. L. Yevatkar, Janardhan Swami Yogabhyas Mandal’s Rambhau Khandwe, Yogacharya Bharatji, Saroj Gupta were present on this occasion. A large number of Nagpurians enthusiastically participated and practised yoga at Kasturchand Park.
This year’s theme was ‘Yoga for Humanity'. A big water proof dome was put up at the venue to ensure uninterrupted programme in case of rains and the historical Baradari at KP formed a perfect background. Yoga is an invaluable gift of Indian culture to the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed at the United Nations in 2014 to celebrate 21st June as International Yoga Day.
According to him, Yoga Day has been celebrated in many countries since 2015 and has helped to spread the importance of yoga practice all over the world. Yoga is being taught in many places abroad. By practising yoga regularly every day, you can achieve physical and mental balance, an experience you yourself have been experiencing for the last few years. Gadkari further said.
A one hour daily practice of yoga can keep most of common as well as many serious ailments at bay apart from increasing vitality. Yoga is more useful than Ayurveda and Allopathic medicine and one can avoid visit to hospital. Yoga sadhana creates a positive outlook on life, said Gadkari further while exhorting participants in today's programme to propagate its benefits further in society. He appealed citizens to act selflessly and provide free yoga training through the institutes and further everyone can daily practice yoga in the city gardens and grounds.
Saying that regular yoga practice is necessary to get satisfaction and happiness in life, Yog Guru Khandwe informed about the work being done for the propagation of yoga through Janardhan Swami Yogabhyasi Mandal. Maha Metro provided free Metro service to the citizens to participate in the programme at Kasturchand Park. Officers of Central and State Governments also participated in the event.
