One of the largest coal producing companies of the country, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has taken a step towards setting up a power plant. SECL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Company (MPPGC) with a provision to form a Joint Venture Company (JV) for setting up a unit of 660-MW (Mega Watt) capacity at Amarkantak Thermal Power Station in Chachai.

This joint venture company will generate power on the basis of supercritical state-of-the-art technology.
