Amid the political crisis playing out in Maharashtra over the fate of Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Government, a group of some 50 volunteers of Shiv Sena’s city unit held a show of strength backing embattled Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. However, top leaders of the party in the city remained aloof from the local development.
On Thursday, members of Shiv Sena city unit, staged a demonstration in support of the party chief Uddhav Thackeray at Shiv Sena Bhavan in Reshimbag. While prominent leaders of the party abstained, Kishor Kumeria was the lone corporator of the party who joined the party workers to show solidarity with Chief Minister Thackeray.
Kumeria, a former Deputy Mayor who heads two zones of party in Nagpur, led party workers in the demonstration.
During the show of strength, the Shiv Sena workers raised slogans in support of Uddhav Thackeray. They assembled at the party office holding placards and banners with photos of Balasaheb, Uddhav and Aditya Thackeray on them.
Surprisingly, top Shiv Sena leaders from the city, including party’s Contact Head and
MLC Dushyant Chaturvedi, Ramtek MP Krupal Tumane, city chief Pramod Manmode, Mangesh Kashikar, Satish Harde, Kishor Kanhere, Suresh Sakhre, Deepak Kapse and Prakash Jadhav, abstained the show of strength.
One group led by Nitin Tiwari, city head of the party, had displayed solidarity with its leaders on Wednesday night at Variety Square.
On Thursday, another group led by Kumeria joined the party workers at Reshimbag Sena Bhavan. Call for the show of strength in support of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray was given by Vikram Rathod,
Nagpur District Yuva Sena chief.
Kumeria was not present on Wednesday’s demonstration while Tiwari abstained on Thursday.
When ‘The Hitavada’ contacted Dushyant Chaturvedi, he said, “We have no instructions from our party leaders. I have nothing to say about the recent political developments. Our leader is Udddhav Thackeray for which nobody should have doubt. Whatever the party leadership asks, we obey.”
Shiv Sena leaders Ashish Jaiswal and Krupal Tumane were not available for their comments.
