Eminent screenwriter Sandeep Shrivastava, hailing from Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, has received International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) Technical Award 2022 for screenplay in the film Shershaah.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has congratulated Sandeep Shrivastava for this achievement.

Baghel wrote on his Tweeter account, “I congratulate Sandeep Shrivastava for this achievement. It is a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh.” The IIFA was held in Abu Dhabi on June 3 and 4. The IIFA 2022 Awards was hosted by Salman Khan, Maniesh Paul and Riteish Deshmukh. There were several scintillating performances from Sara Ali Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Shahid Kapoor, Ananya Panday and Nora Fatehi in the IIFA. The biopic Shershaah was awarded Best Picture, and director Vishnuvaradhan was awarded Best Director for the same film. Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon were awarded Best Actor and Best Actress for their performances in Sardar Udham and Mimi, respectively. Sandeep Shrivastava is a senior screenwriter, lyricist, and actor, widely known for writing the globally acclaimed film New York which was directed by Kabir Khan and stars John Abraham, Irrfan Khan, and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. He has also written dialogues for movies like Ab Tak Chhappan, Kabul Express, and Sachin (Hindi) and has written lyrics for movies like Life in a Metro, Vishwapooram 2, and Kahaani, a film that won multiple national awards. He also worked as a screenwriter on Hotstar’s Aarya, a crime drama starring Sushmita Sen. Shershaah is an Indian Hindi-language biographical war film based on the life of Vikram Batra, killed in Kargil War, directed by Vishnuvardhan. The film was produced by Dharma Productions and Kaash Entertainment, with Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Shabbir Boxwala, Ajay Shah and Himanshu Gandhi serving as producers.
