National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Sipath on Sunday celebrated the World Environment Day with theme ‘Earth-Only One’. A prabhat pheri was taken out under the leadership of Sipath Chief General Manager Ghanshyam Prajapati on Sunday morning.
After the Prabhat Pheri, a street play giving message of water conservation was organised in the presence of Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board Bilaspur Regional Officer Devvrat Mishra.
Speaking on the topic of the day, Prajapati administered oath for environment conservation in the presence of CPG-2 to Chief General Manager Kamlakar Singh, Operation & Maintenance General Manager Ramanath Pujari and all the others General Managers, Head of Departments, Sangwari Mahila Samiti office-bearers, Girl Empowerment Campaign participating girls and senior officers/employees.
Thereafter, a plantation drive was organized at D Type area and Executive Association office premises. In this financial year, NTPC Sipath has set the target of 1 lakh sapling plantation. Around 94,000 saplings will be planted with Miyawaki method, which is a Japanese technique used to create dense forest in small area.
Various competitions on the theme of environment conservation were also organised. Chief Guest Ghanshyam Prajapati announced prizes for the winners of these competitions. Additional General manager Dr M Muthuraman proposed a vote of thanks.
